Biography

Welcome to my site of photographs and illustrations.

I was born in Frameries (Belgium) in 1967.

I studied visual arts at the E.S.A.P.V in Mons (Belgium): my teachers were Michel Jamsin and Charly Vienne. I graduated from college in 1992.

I also took photography training at the IEPSCF in Ath.

For many years, I have had a passion for drawing. My first drawings were already influenced by the fantastic and surreal world of Hieronymus Bosch. Subsequently, I integrated the luminous atmospheres of romanticism and the technique of Gothic. To amplify their strange aspect, my works are made exclusively in black and white, in charcoal and black chalk on paper. My artistic journey in this field has gradually led me towards a fantastic universe sometimes populated by strange creatures and chiaroscuro atmospheres.

My interest in photography has also developed over several years. But I only use photography as a means of expression since the beginning of 2012; the acquisition of a digital camera and the immense possibilities it brings were the triggers for this new passion. At the same time, I discovered with pleasure the observation of nature and in particular wild animals thanks to the acquisition of a telephoto lens for my Canon camera. My practice of drawing being influenced by ancient painting (Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism, Symbolism, ...), I do not try to integrate this influence into my approach to photography. In general, nature in all its forms, colors, and atmospheres is the area that attracts me the most in photography. For me there is nothing more beautiful and stranger than nature in this world. The fascination it gives me is matched only by the satisfaction of being able to show it in image, for you... I use a digital Canon Eos camera and a silver Minolta camera.

This site is entirely devoted to my photographic and artistic work. All photos and illustrations are protected against abusive copying. Any reproduction without permission is prohibited.
